flip flops
slip on and off
tossed easily
to or fro
where they are
I cannot find

wisely ... needlessly
shoes betray the burden of the weight the heart left behind ... wisely
ones face betrays the burden the weight the heart carried ... needlessly

Champion Socks 5-18-09
grey and white fluffy
comfy and clean
bear the chaff of
boots and shoes
they go with me
each day and end
all sweaty and weary
at the end of the day
oh the stories
that come out when
the clothes they all meet
the soap and the rinse
at the wash in night
champions they are
for next morning
they do it again
comfy and clean
bear the chaff of
boots and shoes
they go with me
each day and end
all sweaty and weary
at the end of the day
oh the stories
that come out when
the clothes they all meet
the soap and the rinse
at the wash in night
champions they are
for next morning
they do it again

flip flops and runners
summers brought kids and the heat
cars to and from LAX
wore a rut in the road
so many shoes came
in and out our front door
flip flops and runners galore
the linen cupboard was bare
towels, sheets and blankets
kept the washer (and mom) in suds
summer has come and the heat is here
only one car now is still
the rut is grown over with weeds
still the sound of those shoes
and the voices they carried
echo renewing joy in this heart
cars to and from LAX
wore a rut in the road
so many shoes came
in and out our front door
flip flops and runners galore
the linen cupboard was bare
towels, sheets and blankets
kept the washer (and mom) in suds
summer has come and the heat is here
only one car now is still
the rut is grown over with weeds
still the sound of those shoes
and the voices they carried
echo renewing joy in this heart

isaac's gift remembered - again
isaac sent him for a trip
tucked in a long thin envelope
he came with bright coloured clothes
wide open eyes and arms outstretched
there were isaac's intructions
carefully written - Nana please show him around
i popped him in my pocket, propped him on my dash
i dropped him between the pages of my book
every where we went so many were glad to meet him
he was so much fun - no trouble at all - really
but for me, the bestest part of his time here
to take him round and introduce him was like
having isaac there with me everywhere i went :)
aaron & simon - runners in the rain
miriam & eden - little ballerinas
in the shoes of this other
echoes of two little girls
music is heard in the stitching
wound round the ankles
tiny feet twirling the body around
hands telling their story
tulle sewn at the waist
hair pulled back and tied
bright lights follow them
parental hearts full to the brim
their eyes watching them live
a brother's hands saying yoo-hoo!
the audience clap and cheer
the little ballerinas search
for the eyes they can hear
